Vinyl banners add pizzazz to any event or promotion. Banners are very affordable when you allow time to design and order one in plenty of time before your event. They are easily designed and fun to display.

You don…apos;t have to be a graphic designer to create a vinyl banner. There are stores online that have templates where you can create a custom banner and have them delivered to you. They have creative ideas that can add spark to any marketing campaign.

Most companies online offer discounts and incentives. You can find many companies that have banners listed for half price. Some are for first time customers only and may only be in black and white. But others offer these discounts on all products including color banners and repeat customers. You also want to make sure you banner is thick enough to withstand time.

Sometimes you can get more than one quote if you have the time and ask another company to match the lowest price. You also need to remember that many businesses charge a set up fee for making the banner. These prices can vary so check different rates. You can find companies that only charge a minimal fee of less than thirty dollars which is a fair price to pay.

Also check on length of delivery time and shipping charges. This is where online companies can tack on a lot of extra charges. If you are in a rush you might price local companies instead. They may have higher prices for a banner but be cheaper in the long run after you pay more for a rush shipment. Get at least three quotes from different companies.

If you are a not for profit organization on a school campus you may be able to get special discounts too. Check with you school administration to see if they have an account with a certain company that you can get an even bigger discount or group together with another organization at your school. Many groups have small budgets and you will have better buying power by grouping together.

If you are on a tight budget you might want to create a general banner without a specific date so you can repeat the use of the sign in years to come. Often signage is not reusable because the designer did not think ahead of time and put time specific material on the banner.

You can do a lot with vinyl banners and add a special flair to market you next event. Plan properly and consider your budget by getting quotes from companies. Watch for hidden charges in quotes that can raise prices and allow time for shipping. You will get a lot of use for your banner and your buck.

Digital Banners: Things Worth Considering

Digital banners are an effective way to promoting your company, product, or service. There are several companies, that help you print digital banners. It is therefore worth it to consider whether the company can fulfill your digital banner requirement.

Things to consider:

Make sure your banner company is up to date with their equipment. A banner is of no use to your business if it looks like it belongs in the 90’s. Make sure your printing company has state of the art tools and computers so you can get striking high quality designs.

Does the company use high resolution outdoor and indoor banner print or do they offer low resolution of one or the other?

Is the material used by the printing company high quality durable material? You really do get what you pay for in the banner printing business, and if you’re company isn’t using heavy duty vinyl or other quality materials, then you should reconsider purchasing from that company.

Does the printing company offer any size, any color, and any layout?

Look into a company that offers templates (or a library) of different banner designs that successful companies have used in the past.

Does the printing company you are considering use high quality and up to date technology?

Make sure the digital printing company you are considering uses fade resistant ink. This is especially important if you are considering using the banner you purchase outdoors. Sun, rain, and wind can all decrease the lifespan of your banner.

If you want large format digital printing, it is worth to select a company that has more experience in this field.

Time and money are major assets to any company. If the printing company you are interested in is not concerned about one or either of those assets, then they are not worth either of those assets.

Your banner company should offer support in the overall look and design of the banner you are considering. You should be there to customize from a personal standpoint, they should be there to customize it from a business standpoint.

The banner you have printed is very important to your business’ success. These tips will hopefully help you choose the company that will get you the best results.

Are Those Banners Cheap, or Just Cheap?

Ads for really cheap vinyl banners are all over the ‘net. I mean, who wouldn’t be interested in a 4′x8′ vinyl banner for less than $70. You know what they say about things being too good to be true. Be sure to closely examine just what you are getting…

Banner material

Just what is this banner made of? To use your banner outdoors and have it last longer than a few hours, it must be made of no less than 13 ounce vinyl scrim material. Don’t be fooled by shops trying to pass off paper banners. They won’t make it outside.

Banner material weight

This spec is the one most likely to be hidden from you in an online ad. Chances are that if the advertisement doesn’t specify what the banner weight is , they are hiding something.

Never buy any banner for outdoors that is less than 13 ounces. Experience has shown that this is the minimum weight banner for long lasting outdoor use. You can probably move up to 13 ounces for an additional cost.

Hemming

Finishing the banner with a hem is very important. By folding under an inch of material and securing it by either sewing, welding or using banner tape, you get a banner that is significantly stronger and more durable. My preference is banner tape since it causes no damage to the graphic.

Quite a few printers use sewing as their method of hemming. The problems with sewing are that it makes the edges pucker and distort the image.

A sewing machine can cause some marring of the image due to the claw tooth foot that moves the banner into the machine. This will cause marring of the image you are paying good money for. If your cheap banner doesn’t include hemming, expect to pay about $1 per linear foot, or slightly more than $20 for a 4×8 banner.

Banner finishing: Grommets

This is a simple one…everyone needs some way to hang the banners that they buy don’t they? Grommets are super cheap, about $0.10 each, and should be included in the price. You should have one in each corner and then one every two/three feet along all four sides. Those shops that charge extra usually bill you $1.00 for each grommet. That is $12.00 for a 4′x8′ banner.

Summary

Vinyl banners are a super tool to promote your business or events. Banners offer the best return-on-investment of all advertising. Be careful when you see those ads for cheap banners, that might be just what you get.
